E911

A specific example of ongoing staff support in this area is the Logan County E911(Enhanced) emergency telephone system.  In 1992 the County entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with other public safety entities to create the E-911 Authority Board.  The Authority Board is responsible for administering the operation of the emergency telephone service program which includes providing for an emergency telephone system that is as efficient and cost-effective as possible.  The County Commissioners appoint the nine members to the E-911 Authority Board.  The Secretary of the Authority Board, must be a representative of Logan County Government.  The Board has entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the City of Sterling and other Public Safety Entities to establish the Sterling Police Department as the Dispatch Center for all 911 calls.  Future focus is going to be on providing emergency service to wireless service users.
